Help build open infrastructure for remote Android.

Ephemeral Phone brings together runtime engineering, practical security research, deployment operations, documentation, and product design. There is useful work for experienced maintainers and first-time contributors alike.

Runtime track

Make Android portable

Test Cuttlefish and Waydroid across hardware, improve lifecycle adapters, and document reproducible deployment paths.

Trust track

Make claims testable

Review the threat model, probe identity and ticket boundaries, and turn security assumptions into verifiable behaviour.

Experience track

Make the system understandable

Improve clients, accessibility, demos, translations, onboarding, and language that clearly explains each protection and limitation.

Founding phase

Get in early—and help shape the requirements.

The project site, status, architecture, API shape, security boundaries, and roadmap are public. Founding access is intentionally collaborative: the environments you operate, the risks you manage, and the workflows you need will influence product, deployment, and support priorities.

This is a chance to work closely with the project while important decisions are still open, not a reduced version of the eventual service.

Bring us your use case

Watch the reference flow, review the security boundaries, and compare the roadmap with the problem you want to solve. The gaps and requirements you identify are valuable input.

Community standard

Make every claim verifiable.

Product claims should map to an implemented mechanism, a repeatable test, or a clearly labelled proposal. Limitations stay beside the features they qualify.
